2009 CONFERENCES
NCHSD held its 9th annual Fall Medicaid Infrastructure Grantees Conference in Chicago September 16 through 18, with more than 120 state MIG staff, policymakers and other stakeholders attending! The agenda featured nearly twenty plenary and breakout sessions covering a range of issues affecting employment for people with disabilities.
Plenary Session Highlights. A keynote address from Dr. Larry Brown, Professor, Mailman School of Public Health, Division of Health Management, Columbia University, shared his thoughts on the current health care reform proposals in Congress, as well as those elements he feels will have the greatest impact on Medicaid programs. Kari Collins, Project Director of Kentucky Youth First Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, presented a plenary session on using implementation drivers to ensure sustainability, based on a model developed by the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN). CMS hosted a Town Hall Discussion to capture states' opinions on the approaches used to implement key aspects of the MIG. Several plenary sessions focused on the national marketing campaign and state efforts to prepare for the impact that campaign will have on employment for people with disabilities.
Breakout session summaries are available in the Conference eNews, which also has links to all the presentations and materials from those important workshops. You can also view these materials in our Library here.
