These outreach videos were funded by Medicaid Infrastructure Grants to help convey messages to businesses and the general public about hiring people with disabilities. If you have a disability and employment-related video to add to the collection, please contact your NCHSD staff liaison.
Work Matters - Promo Spot #1 (0:30 / 1.9 MB) - The Maryland MIG funded this 30-second television spot for the Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD), emphasizing the skilled workforce of people with disabilities and the importance of their work.
Work Matters - Promo Spot #2 (0:30 / 2.0 MB) - This is another 30-second MDOD television spot; it addresses common myths about hiring people with disabilities, such as the cost of accommodations and job performance.
Great Hires! (7:49 / 29.4 MB) - With Washington MIG funding, the Washington Initiative for Supported Employment, King County Developmental Disabilities and King 5 Television produced this 7-1/2 minute video portraying 3 individuals with disabilities and their employers (Starbucks, Children's Hospital and Auntie Anne's Pretzels).
Connect-Ability (12:45 / 48.5 MB) - The Connecticut MIG created this set of five videos through its Connect-Ability project to raise awareness about the work abilities of people with disabilities and profile individuals with different types of disabilities working in different types of jobs, from driving a dump truck to working as a Forest Service biologist. Working Together (2:22 / 9.0 MB) - This video, funded by the Maine MIG, shows several businesspeople from both large and small businesses describing their experience of hiring and working with people with disabilities. You can also view the video on the Working Together website.
Workers with Disabilities (13:44 / 51.2 MB) - This video from the North Dakota MIG was created to promote the Medicaid Buy-In. It tells the story of several individuals with disabilities and addresses the loss of healthcare coverage for people who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid.
My Ability (2:27 / 9.0 MB) - This video was funded by the Oregon MIG for the Oregon Business Leadership Network to convey the message that people with disabilities want to work and have valuable job skills and abilities.
Don't Let Fear Outshine Your Ability (16:34 / 100 MB) - This is a series of videos produced with Arizona MIG funding that tells the stories of several working individuals with disabilities, and shares their advice for people with disabilities who want to work, and for the businesses that hire them.
