Spring Members Meeting - March 6, 2007
NCHSD members met for a delicious dinner and an engaging presentation during CMS’s New Freedom Initiative Conference in Baltimore. Leslie Wilson of Wilson Resources, Inc., discussed a number of strategies MIGs can use to develop BLNs and other types of business relationships. She is Project Director for the Florida Medicaid Infrastructure Grant, which has helped start a number of BLNs. View Leslie's presentation here.
As a follow-up to the meeting, NCHSD and Leslie to develop Business Leadership Networks: Proven Strategies for Medicaid Infrastructure Grants to help MIG states decide if and when a Business Leadership Network strategy is right for their state, and provide step-by-step advice on starting a BLN.
Fall MIG Conference – September 19-20, 2007
More than 100 participants from 32 states, together with representatives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Social Security Administration, attended NCHSD's annual Fall MIG Conference September 19-20, in Chicago. Attendees benefited from the expertise of both state and federal presenters at fourteen different plenary and breakout sessions over the two-day conference. The keynote speaker was noted author Dr. Ruby Payne, who spoke about the connection between poverty and disability, and how poverty impacts employment outcomes.
